Timber decking
Hardwood and pine decks, pool surrounds, raised platforms and stairs. Properly ventilated substructures, hidden or countersunk fixings, sealed and ready to use.
Cape Peninsula carpentry
Decks, fences, gates, chicken coops and garden structures, built on site across the Cape Peninsula by a crew who have spent years working timber. Straight lines, honest timber, no shortcuts.
We came up through the trade the long way, cutting, treating and fixing the poles, decking and cladding we still build with today.
Salt air, southeasters and winter rain. We treat, seal and fix accordingly so the work still looks right in five years.
Send a photo on WhatsApp and we will come and measure. Most garden jobs start within a week or two.
Who we are
Diva's is a hands on carpentry team working across Cape Town's south peninsula. We spent years cutting, treating and installing timber for homes all over the valley before we started building under our own name.
That background matters more than it sounds. It means we know which timber belongs where, how a fence should be set so it does not lean after one winter, and how to build a deck substructure that stays dry underneath. Most of our work now comes from neighbours of people we have already built for.
What we build
If it is made of wood and it lives outside, we can build it, repair it or replace it. Here is what we get asked for most.
Hardwood and pine decks, pool surrounds, raised platforms and stairs. Properly ventilated substructures, hidden or countersunk fixings, sealed and ready to use.
Picket, paling, slatted privacy screens, gum pole fencing and driveway gates. Set in concrete, squared up and finished so the whole run reads as one line.
Built to keep caracal, mongoose and baboons out, which down here is the whole job. Nesting boxes, easy clean floors, wire mesh runs and doors that actually latch.
Storage sheds, studios, tool rooms and garden offices. Built on site or delivered in sections, clad and roofed to match the house.
Pergolas, carports, patio covers and reed or lath ceilings that take the edge off the afternoon sun without closing the space in.
Shiplap and log profile cladding, slatted screens to hide bins and pumps, plus repairs to rotten boards, sagging gates and tired decks that just need bringing back.
Recent work
No stock photos and no catalogue shots. Every picture below is a job we built for a homeowner on the peninsula.

Areas we cover
The Deep South is home ground, so we are on site quickly and back just as quickly if anything needs a second look. We also take work in the southern suburbs and along the Atlantic seaboard.
Not on the list? Send us the address anyway. If we can get there, we will quote it.
How it works
WhatsApp us a picture of the spot and rough measurements. We will tell you straight away whether it is something we do.
A proper site visit, levels checked, timber options discussed. We look at drainage and access before we price anything.
Materials, labour and timing in plain language. What is included, what is not, and how long the build will take.
Offcuts removed, site swept, and a walk around with you at the end so you are happy before we invoice.
Timber, honestly
A deck in Kommetjie takes a different beating to one in Tokai. Part of our job is telling you which timber makes sense for where you live and what you want to spend.
Dense, heavy and long lasting. Our first choice for pool surrounds and coastal decks that take full sun and salt. Oils up beautifully and holds its shape.
The workhorse. Cost effective for decks, screens, coops and Wendy houses, treated to the correct hazard class so ground contact is not a problem.
For rustic fencing, pergola posts and retaining work. Strong, forgiving on uneven ground and very much at home in a fynbos garden.
Shiplap, log profile and slatted battens for walls, screens and ceilings. Finished with sealer or stain in the colour you choose.
Questions
No. Site visits and written quotes anywhere in the south peninsula are free. If you are further out we will let you know before we drive.
Most domestic decks take between three and seven working days once materials are on site, depending on size, access and whether we are building over a slope. Fences usually go up in a day or two.
Yes. We build coops and runs to fit the space you have, with nesting boxes, a cleanable floor and mesh strong enough to keep the local wildlife out. Tell us how many birds and we will size it.
Both. Replacing rotten boards, resetting leaning poles, rehanging a dropped gate and sanding and resealing a tired deck are a good part of what we do.
Yes, and it is included in the quote. Years in the trade mean we know the suppliers and we know how to get good stock at a fair price. If you have your own timber, we are happy to work with it.
The whole south peninsula from Muizenberg down to Cape Point, across to Kommetjie and Scarborough, plus the southern suburbs and Hout Bay.
